Patricia Catanzaro
Artist
I have painted in my studio in Park Ridge NJ for more than 20 years. Before that I worked in Washington D.C., Southampton, NY and Pisa, Italy.
Oil on canvas has always been my favorite medium. I consider composition to be the most exciting part of the painting experience, looking upon each painting as a puzzle to be solved with color and composition working together to produce a unified whole. The initial idea of theme is quickly subordinated to the influence of design. Thus, many times my first creative impulse arrives at an unforeseen destination upon completion of the painting. This is the challenge and the fun!
I have exhibited in juried, invited and solo shows at many different venues, museums, universities and art centers. Museums include The Parrish Art Museum, The Bergen Museum of Art and Science and Montclair Art Museum. Universities include Columbia University, Montclair University and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Art centers are Rockland Center for the Arts, Edward Hopper House Center and Old Church Cultural Center. My paintings are in collections across the US and Italy.
